Death is not a Joke!

Jokes aside, death is no laughing matter, particularly, if you don't have a will.

Dying without a will can be disruptive and have serious consequences including:

  1. Unintended outcomes Beneficiaries that you wanted to benefit could miss out due to strict succession rules that may trigger a distant relative inheriting assets. You could lose control over minor children leading to those children being raised by someone else that was never intended.

  2. Financial distress Your assets may be misappropriated and financial wishes not being followed. Threats from creditors, divorce or separation and financial predators could mean your assets are not available to intended family members.

  3. Added burden Managing your affairs while dealing with a death or disability adds to an already stressful and overwhelming situation. This can be time consuming and very expensive.  Delays and costs while resolving family disputes can result in severe financial stress if mortgage payments, insurance premiums, property taxes and other expenses are required to be paid.

  4. Family disputes A contested inheritance over money including sentimental items can trigger long running and costly court action. Even without court action, infighting and disagreements among family members can be extremely disruptive and stressful.

Having a will prepared by a specialist advisor can give you peace of mind knowing that your financial and personal assets will be managed, protected and distributed according to your goals when death arises.

Don't let dying without a will be your biggest mistake.
